What hiring AWS engineers actually involves.
Hiring for AWS is mostly hiring judgment. The console offers a dozen ways to run a container and most of them work, so the difference between engineers isn't which services they can name — it's whether they pick the boring option that your team can operate at 2am, and whether they can explain the bill at the end of the month.
What we do with AWS is make releases uneventful. Infrastructure defined in Terraform rather than clicked into existence, pipelines that build and deploy without a human in the loop, observability that answers 'what broke' before a customer tells you, and backups that have actually been restored at least once. That last one is the difference between having a backup and having a recovery plan.
We're also willing to say your architecture is too complicated. Plenty of systems running on Kubernetes would be cheaper, faster and calmer on something simpler, and a serverless design chosen for the résumé costs real money in cold starts and debugging. If the honest recommendation is fewer moving parts, that's the recommendation.

Do you work in our AWS accounts or yours?
Yours, always. Infrastructure runs in your cloud accounts and code lives in your repositories, so if the engagement ends nothing has to be migrated out of a vendor's tenancy. We work with the access level your security policy allows.
Can you also work with Azure or GCP?
Yes — we manage and optimize AWS, Azure and GCP environments. If you're multi-cloud by accident rather than by design, part of the first review is usually telling you which parts are worth consolidating and which are fine where they are.
Can you reduce our AWS bill?
